The leadership of Peace, Development, Security and Humanitarian Rights Association of Niger Deltans in conjunction with Egbema Communities, Peace, Development and Humanitarian Rights Association has hailed the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government, Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo , the Hon. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, the Hon Minister of State for Enivaronment, Chief Sharon Ikeazor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affrairs, the Senoir Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affrairs, Senator Ita Enang , other relevant and critical stakeholders that played significant role which led to the pronnounment of the Federal Government plan to establish the eighteen Modular Refineries in the Niger Delta region.
According to Comarde Mike J.K Tiemo, the establishment of Modular Refineries in the Niger Delta will tackle and address the problems of Perennial pipeline vandalism, Proliferation of illegal Refineries, discouragement of crude oil theft, wipe off all sorts of criminal elements, remove unscrupulous act such as sea piracy, kidnapping, thuggery ,Scarcity of Petroleum Products and unemployment.
Tiemo stressed that the establishment of Modular Refineries will also accelerate the multiplayer positive effect of provision of basic amenities in the communities where the Refineries are domiciled.
He further explained that the Presence of the Modular Refineries will attract more foreign investors to the Country and strengthen the laudable and rapid economic recovery plan of the FG.
He pointed out that Modular Refineries in the Niger Delta region will promote capacity building, human capital development, youth/ Women empowerment and it will also promote and strengthen the cordal and bilateral relationship which exist between the oil companies and the host communities producing oil and gas.
However, Comrade Mike J.k Tiemo remarked that the planned eighteen Modular Refineries to be executed by the FG which is average of three per a State is a far cry form what is needed to make an appreciatable difference and expected positive impact in solveing the problem of accute fuel shortage or scarcity, frequent increase in pump price, shortage of locally refined petroleum products, inabil;ity to avert further pollution of the Niger Delta region with illegally sourced crude oil.
He appealed to the FG and all relivant stakeholders mentioned above to support this laudable vision of the establishment of Modular Refineries and also to increase the number far more than the eithteen penciled down earlier by the FG through the Ministry of Environment.
Comrade Mike Tiemo called on other relevant Agencies of Government including the Private Sector, particularly the lnternational Oil Companies (IOC,s) to collaborate with the FG to ensure that the idea of establishing Modular Refineries in the Niger Delta region is executed with agility in record time to adequately address most of the issues of long time neglect and pollution which is already a threat to the life of the people of the Niger Delta region.
Comrade Mike Tiemo Who made a special commendation remark in hissummà tion said: " My Special kudos to President Muhamnadu Buhari , Vice President, Prof, Yemi Osinbajo, who first made the Pronnouncement of Modular Refineries during his visit to the Niger Delta in 2016 in his capacity as Acting President, as a veritable alternative to Artisanal Refineries and today the dream of having Modular Refineries in the Niger Delta is coming to fruition ."
He
added : " In the same token ,my special greeting to the Hon Minister of
State for Petroleum ,Chief Timipre Sylva, the Hon Minister of State for
Environment, Chief Sharon lkeazor , the Hon Minister of Niger Delta
Affrairs,Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senior Special Assistant to the
President on Niger Delta Affrairs, Senator Ita Enang for the good works they
are doing concerning the actualization of the establishment of Modular
Refineries in the Niger Delta region." he concluded
